How does this calculator work?

Our VoIP savings calculator compares your current landline bill with our residential VoIP plans. It takes into account:

  • Your base plan with Bell, Rogers, Vidéotron or another provider
  • The paid add-ons you have (caller ID, voicemail, long distance, etc.)
  • Our VoIP plan, which includes all of these features for free

The difference represents your potential savings. Most of our customers save between $40 and $60 per month — more than $500 per year!

Frequently asked questions

Are the savings realistic?

Yes, the prices used in this calculator are based on Bell, Rogers and Vidéotron's public rates in 2026. VoIP uses your existing Internet connection, which eliminates the infrastructure costs of traditional phone lines.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The price shown is the price you pay. No installation fees, no network fees, no monthly equipment fees. The VoIP hardware comes preconfigured.

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes, you can keep your current number through porting. A one-time $15 transfer fee applies, and your contacts won't need to update their address books.

Is the call quality comparable?

VoIP quality is generally superior thanks to HD audio technology. With a standard Internet connection (5 Mbps+), you won't notice any difference — if anything, you'll notice an improvement!

Why are you paying so much for your phone line?

Canada's big phone companies — Bell, Rogers, Vidéotron, Telus — have kept their rates high for decades. Even with the arrival of high-speed Internet, prices for traditional landlines haven't come down. On the contrary, they keep going up every year.

The reason? These companies count on consumer inertia. Many Canadians keep paying $40, $50 or even $60 per month for a simple phone line, often because they don't know about the alternatives or believe that switching providers is complicated.

With VoIP phone service, you can get the same service — and often better — for a fraction of the price. Our calculator above shows you exactly how much you could save.

The hidden fees of traditional providers

Your phone bill is often higher than the advertised price. Here are the extra fees that Bell, Rogers and Vidéotron typically add:

Caller ID

$7 to $10/month with the big providers. Included free with VoIP.

Voicemail

$5 to $8/month for voicemail. Included free with VoIP.

Call waiting

$3 to $5/month for this basic feature. Included free with VoIP.

Long distance

10¢ to 25¢/minute to call elsewhere in Canada. Unlimited Canada/USA calling included with VoIP.

911 service fees

$0.50 to $1.50/month depending on the province. Charged by all providers.

Equipment rental

$5 to $10/month for the phone modem. Equipment included with our VoIP plans.

Total potential hidden fees: $25 to $40/month

That's what you save on top of the base rate by switching to VoIP!

How to maximize your phone savings

Here are our tips for saving as much as possible on your phone bill:

1

Assess your real needs

Do you really need all the add-ons on your current bill? Our $9.99/month base plan includes everything most families need. Use the calculator above to see your savings.

2

Keep your phone number

Many people hesitate to switch providers for fear of losing their number. Good news: number porting is simple and takes 5-10 business days. You keep your current number!

3

Take advantage of unlimited calling

With VoIP, long-distance calls within Canada and to the United States are included. If you often call family in other provinces or in the USA, your savings will be even greater.

4

Cut out the extras

If you have a cell phone and a landline, ask yourself whether you really need both. Many of our customers use VoIP as their main line and save even more.

Projected savings over 5 years

Small monthly savings add up quickly. Here's what you could save over 5 years depending on your current provider:

If you leave Bell ($55/month)

Monthly savings $45
Yearly savings $540
Savings over 5 years $2,700

If you leave Vidéotron ($45/month)

Monthly savings $35
Yearly savings $420
Savings over 5 years $2,100

Think about it: $2,000 to $3,000 in savings over 5 years is a family trip, a new television, or simply more money in your pocket every month.

Frequently asked questions about VoIP savings

How can VoIP cost so little?

VoIP uses the Internet — infrastructure you already pay for. There are no dedicated phone lines to maintain, no technicians to repair them, and no costly telephone exchanges. These infrastructure savings allow us to offer much lower prices.

Are there hidden fees with VoIP?

No. The price shown is the price you pay. All features (caller ID, voicemail, unlimited calling, etc.) are included. The only possible extra charges are applicable taxes and 911 service fees (mandatory for all phone providers in Canada). See our terms and conditions for 911-related fees. The e911 service differs from traditional 911.

Does number porting cost anything?

Porting your existing number to our service costs $15 (one-time fee). It's a small investment that lets you keep your current number. You recover that amount in less than a month of savings!

Do I have to pay for VoIP equipment?

The equipment (Wi-Fi IP phone or ATA adapter) is sold separately when you subscribe. It belongs to you and you keep it. It arrives preconfigured at your home — just plug it in and it works.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

No cancellation fees! We don't have contracts. You can cancel at any time. If you cancel, you simply return the provided equipment. It's as simple as that.

Are international calls expensive?

Calls to Canada and the United States are unlimited and included in all our plans. For international calls to other countries, we offer very competitive per-minute rates, typically 50 to 80% cheaper than the big providers.
